Text by Ekaterina Lazareva:

The ongoing project "The Journey from Petersburg to Moscow" develops the principle of an open form and was shown as the movie, multimedia installation, a series of graphic works, etc. The work is based on the reenactment of the known Russian critical story "The Journey from Petersburg to Moscow" (1790) by Aleksandr Radishchev, which lead his author to Siberian exile. The writing that is accepted to mark the beginning of Russian critical and dissident tradition is checked on relevance and consonance with today's Russia. The repetition of Radishchev's route deliberately slowed down allows to testify the historical moment when the Russian society critically faces the problems of overcoming of loneliness of a protest, of resistance to censorship and political repressions, of suspension between the requirement of the civil rights and possibility of revolutionary changes drawing out from "The Journey" and its author up to now.
