Ekaterina Lazareva's solo project "March 9" opened the next day after the Centenary of International Women's Day in 2011. The installation examines the changes brought by the feminist movement as well as the changes of March 8 imagery in mass culture and mass media. The video part of the installation was shoot the same morning and shows women's feet hurrying up to work. The right to work doesn't release from victims to beauty. Many of them wear spike heels that on the snow-covered and slippery road become a modern analog the Chinese bandaging of feet. The video is accompanied with a visual study of iconography and phraseology in March 8 greeting cards from the late USSR (from 1950's to 1980's) that demonstrate the successive women's counterrevolution.
